C'mon.... let's watch spring arrive in
The Valley.
April, 2006 began with Mushroom foraging through The Valley & Trout Brook and dying Easter Eggs.
 | This year we wrapped raw eggs in silk neckties and white cloth. Boiled them for 20 minutes and produced some interesting looking eggs (bottom right image) click for larger image. |

The other eggs were boiled, colored with food coloring and swirled in an olive oil dye bath |

 | It's May and the bloodroot, dutchman's britches pulmanaria, daffodils, tulips, sedum and magnolias are in full bloom. |

We have seen snakes on the driveway (not to mention morels and other mushrooms), deer from our kitchen window, eagles, foxes, coyotes and of course it would not be The Valley without the gophers and racoons.
This last picture is not from The Valley but from the Walmart parking lot!
